Hey guys realize there are tons of overheating threads already but I couldn't find one that I got good closure on.
So I just picked up an 89 325i with overheating problems. it idles fine but if you drive it after a few blocks it starts rising pretty fast to the red (haven't taken it all the way as didn't want to risk it). the fan works, and the oil cap and dipstick are clean. does this mean it isn't a head gasket problem?
I noticed that there is a ton of pressure in the reservoir and hoses with a hissing sound and the smell of burnt coolant. I'm not very mechanical so any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Max
