    very strange problem

so i bought my 3rd e30 3 weeks ago, and it needed a little work.

i drove the car home and immediately commenced tearing it apart.

    new front seal.
    new timing set.
    new water pump.
    new thermostat.
    new reservoir cap.
and welded up a new exhaust on it.

    now the "strange problem"

i notice when the car is on, or shortly after i shut it off coolant is dripping out of the bolt hole for the front left LCA (where the big rubber bushing is at).

its coming out of the two bolts that hold the bushing assembly to the body???

weird right? i was thinking maybe my heater core is leaking through the car,,,thoughts?

if your heater core was leaking your carpet would be soaked in coolant, must be comin from above... maybe heater core hoses at the firewall?

Maybe the coolant pipe that bolts to the back of the head is leaking.

look for the overflow tube off the coolant res, not the one back to the rad, but the one that goes towards the steering wheel - should be tucked between the strut and fender.

I'm not exactly sure what causes this hose to bleed off coolant but it happened to me when I was bleeding my m50. Couldn't figure it out for awhile till I heard that hose peeing all around my fuse box :(. The coolant made it all the way down to my CAB. Try to place that tube into a tiny cup of some sort to see if this is your source.

Well the hoses to the heater pipes shouldn't cause this, theyre on the outside of the firewall - if those leak they will leak on the trans. Check the heater pipes on the inside of the car. Remove the center consoles and pull the carpet off the side of trans tunnel under the dash a bit to look for coolant.

These pipes are exposed and if they were to leak they would pool under the pedals.
