My 1988 3325i was burning up fuel pumps due to rust on the tank so I dropped the tank and acid washed and sealed it. I put it back together with a new walbro 255255 pump and now my plugs are wet and its running really rich. So much I can smell gas bad and I have to step away. If you have any ideas what it could be please let me know
thanks it has a cold air intake but that's it. The rest is stock. I really need to know. Is there anything I should adjust due to putting in the walbro 255?

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the ECU? Check FPR.

rust blocking the return line inside the tank? that will cause the fuel pressure to be super high. check it out... i'd almost bet a dollar the return is somehow blocked.

you have to step away? as in the exhaust smells rich as hell?

Adding a better pump wont change your fuel demands in the car..just may change the pressure if I understand correctly....check your fuel filters and the fpr as the rust will likely have affected things else where

so? is the return line verified as not being blocked? you could test this by trying to blow air into the return line.

what is your fuel pressure at the rail? what about after the fuel pressure regulator?
