    wtf have i done?

ok so i have a 87 325i sedan and it ran fine but i noticed a bit of oil coming from between the head and block, so i figured head gasket. so i figured while i was there got new valve cover gasket new intake mani gasket new water pump gasket, and new head bolts. put everything back together and car started right up, it even had better throttle response(as before it would hesitate) oh yeah before i forget, i did NOT get the head inspected/cleaned (stupid i know, but no $$$) anywhoozle after i let it idle for about 15 min it started smoking lightly from the exhaust mani and it said low coolant on my OBC, also if i reved it, the RPM's would come down normally but then stop at 1500rpm and slow way down until they reached 1000 RPM. now the OBC always tells me im low on coolant but the reservoir is full an there are no leaks underneath the car, and my check engine light came on too. ive been thinking cracked head but am hoping it might be something else. also fuck complete sentences. run on's FTMFW!

      Terrible posting skills OP

You should have had the head checked for cracks and for straightness (and do valve job/valve seals too...how many times do you want to take the head off?). It's not a suggestion, it's a requirement. It seems like you know this already so I dunno why you skipped that step. You say you had no cash, then why did you rip the head off for a small oil leak if the car was running fine?

Anyways, do a compression test on all cylinders, and/or a leakdown test. That should tell the story. How did you torque the head bolts?

You'll probably be pulling that head off again, but it should go faster this time.

edit: I just re-read your post and caught something I missed the first time. You say the low coolant warning is on but the reservoir is full? The coolant level sensor is right in the reservoir, so something isn't working right or you are actually low on coolant...

How did the water temp act? Did it overheat before/during/after the white smoke and shit? Did you bleed the system?

sry bout shitty posting skills, its my first day. AAAND yes i bleed the system and put new coolant, i tightened the bolts to bently specs (had to buy torque wrench) and the temp gauge read it was fine but im starting not to trust it now cuz i just drove to the gas station down the street then drove it around the block and it was bearly pointing out of the blue.(?) also when i covered the air box hole to see if i could hear a leak, the engine started dieing (good sign) then as is starts stalling i can hear a light grinding noise (not so good sign) kinda like when brakes squeal. the engine dint seem much hotter than normal tho, and no smoke this time (??) BUT when i was driving it would want to die sometimes from a dead stop when i accelerated but it only did it twice (alot of stop signs lol) and as for the head coulda shoulda woulda, just wanna see if MABEY it might be something idk about before i get up to my nuts and guts in that car again.

Whoa dude, it really hurt to read what you typed.

If your getting a check light for low coolant, that level sender is based off the reservoir tank, so that sensor is either bad, not hooked up, or broken. Also, have you replaced the coolant temp sensor? How did the thermostat look when doing all this work?

When i redid my cooling system, i found that the PO had used nothing but water and my thermostat was stuck (rusty), and my fan clutch had screws through it (i guess so it would spin? totally EFF'd it up that way, thanks PO)
