Oil cooler mounting on EARLY chassis (talking early '85)

OK, so I got the oil cooler set up from a later i motor to match the i motor in my '85 chassis. Because mine is a really early 85 chassis, it has the front panel that does the tuck back in toward the engine bay on the bottom. From looking at different model years, it seems like the later models was not tapered at the bottom, allowing the oil cooler to mount to the bottom of the radiator.

Does anyone have a stock oil cooler installed on a, 84 - early 85 chassis with the stock front panel? If you have pix or possible tips on mounting it, lemme know..

If it will help I will post crappy cell phone pix of the problem area.

Is the 84-85 panel different from an 86? If not then I can take a couple pics of what I've done. It's not neat by any means but functional and allows the oil cooler to sit in front of the rad @ the bottom.

Yeah, it may be. From what I can tell, the change on the front panel was in mid year '86. If you can snap a quick shot of yours, that would be fantastic.

Here's what I am talking about.

see how the bottom curves back and limits the space between the panel and the radiator support..

Yup yours is different. If you can fit it above the radiator support, you would be in business but I don't know how hard it is to get it in there...(thats what she said)
I know I had to cut a small portion of the rad support corner in order to get the lines to run up front without rubbing on anything. It took many trials of fitting it in there before success.

          Doh!

          Guess it's a winter project.
