    M20 no start.

so, I get out to start my car and fires right up. I run it for maybe a minute just before I was about to take it out for a ride. I noticed tire is low so I shut it down and fill tire with air pump that plugs into the lighter. I noticed the lighter socket wasn't seating properly. I get back in and try to start the car and it doesn't start - crank but no start. Could it all of sudden happen like this?

    help would be appreciated.

This could be anything. waffleswaffleswaffles you have spark, normal fuel rail pressure, and injector firing?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

        electrical

Since you were messing with the lighter you may want to start with electricals. I would check relays and fuses first. Then as stated, check for spark and fuel.

ok, I get the procedure now. thanks for all the support and input.
I gather this is what happened. I charged to battery and had enough juice to start it initially. Because I ran that air pump without the car on I think the battery wasn't charged sufficiently to sustain this draw. I tried to start after and the power just wasn't enough to crank it over. the car cranked but I surmise not enough cranking amps to actually fire it up. I didn't do anything to the car and this afternoon put the battery charger on again so that I can actually test for spark and such and out of curiosity I thought I would try to start it. the car fired right up with no hesitation whatsoever. well, what did I learn from this? make you you got plenty of juice first before attempting any diagnostics. :-)
