    Check your injectors

No idea if they have ever been serviced but with 211k+ miles, the carbon has started to severely interfere with the spray.

I bought this service kit on eBay for like $18 shipped, overall I don't have any problems other than a slight design difference. I used the yellow caps.

Also the Bosch style caps are terrible, quality control is non existent it seems...

This is why I usually swap a good used set of M50 injectors in to any M20 I work with. :)

Do you pair this with anything while you're in there? I've got a set of m50 injectors from my old motor... and I have an m20 vert... HMmm

I've put them in a variety of engines. Some stock with stock chip, some with port work, head work, and a cam. The ECU will adapt well and I really think they make the M20 happy and smoother.

Im worried about my injectors now! I know I need to replace the o-rings and a few weeks ago before my surgery I almost did only that. Then I decided to get a fuel pressure gauge ordered first before i pull apart and replace the fuel line that goes into my fuel rail. thats also shot in my 87 325is and i dont want to fiddle around in there twice

But do the o-rings come in the kit u ordered? would u mind posting a link so I can buy some that i know fit and are okay right now. I think I can do this chillin on the couch.haha

thanks for sharing the pics tho. ill find the article and post mine also when i do em

Here's the kit I ordered. Do a quick search on youtube for injector service and there are a few video how-to's with tips and tricks. The hardest part was getting the fuel rail seated back on the injectors. The best advise I can give is to use a generous coating of spit on the o-ring and quickly push the rail back on.

                            WD40 works well also.

M50 stock injectors are a 4 pintle design, and flow at about 17#/hr. easy upgrade, just dont expect the mpg meter to be accurate anymore.

                              Hmmmmm...

Would this be the cause of my sputtering at 4-5K RPM on 2nd gear spirited spurts?

This has been my dilemma lately. I sometimes feel the same thing as I'm hitting he rev limiter on 1st.

Great info.. I'll be getting a set off an M20 in the junk yards to service.
