Hello, ive been working on this problem with my car for some time now, and cant seem to figure it out. It is a 1985 BMW 325e.
The problem started when I was driving and hit a bump in the road and my turn signals died along with my check engine panel and light, I then tried my hazards to see if the lights were completely dead, but they worked and flashed perfectly.
So i went to the nearest gas station to check out my fuses, and sure enough fuse #4 a 15 amp blew causing my turn signals to die. So i replaced it and it blew again, frustrated and not caring if other problems occur, i put a 20 amp fuse to see what would happen. The turn signals came on for about 4-5 blinks and then blew the fuse again.
So now im thinking i have a short to ground causing it to pass the light bulb load and popping the fuse.
Then today, i got my multimeter working and did some testing.
12.59 at the battery, 11.98V at the fuse #4 with key switched on and 0.0v on the ground.(not sure if it has to do with anything, im just thinking that if i had a short you would see 12v on the ground side?)
Then i checked the relay underneath the steering column (not the flasher, the turn signal relay i believe on the fire wall) and it seems to magnetize and hold the contact.
The only other thing i can think about is the turn signal stalk... but im not 100% sure.
If anyone has had this same problem and found a solution please let me know.
