Bavauto chip with 87 octane?

Directly from their site:
"The installation of a Bavarian Autosport Performance Chip in your BMW will require the use of 92-RMS (or higher) octane unleaded gasoline. Serious engine damage could occur if the engine is run under heavy load or high RPM with use of fuel with a lower octane rating"
Generally the whole reason to chip a car is to take advantage of running higher octane fuels by reprogramming the ECU for them. And no, I would not run 87 octane.

yeah, my old boss gave me some gas out of a big tank he had. I asked him what octane it was and he said "what octane does your car take?'', i said "93'', "well thats what it is" he replied. Bullsh*t, my car was detonating like crazy and misfiring, it sounded and felt like it was gonna blow up, especially with 75d poly mounts. Got some fresh 93 and it went right away. I told him and his reply was "my wife uses it in here acura rl without problems, but that car comes with knock sensors to retard the timing for lower octane fuel. needless to say i didnt take anymore free gas from the dousche
