Accelerator Pedal is hard to press down

So I know its a cable but maybe its gunked up or needs lubricating? I can put the pedal down as far as I want but it feels like it should be easier to do so. It makes it very hard to have any fine touch when it comes to accelerating or using the pedal. ANyone have any experience with this?

    thanks!

open up your hood, you'll see the cable. adjust it, works like a bicycle brake cable.

        +1 replace the cable.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

In a pinch I would lubricate it. But if moneys no object...

I checked my Bentley manual and there wasn't a damn thing about which way to adjust the cable to reduce effort.

yea my pedal feels a little stiff. it doesnt blip lightly to easily. ive lubricated the hinges/joints in the car that are attached to the pedal and all the joints where it meets the throttle body. im thinking about replacing my cable asap. i have a thread in here about my throttle getting stuck today.

I was at a red light, and since I have poly motor mounts and e21 tranny mounts i could feel it was different. looked down and it was idling at 1200 rpm's. it got stuck or something.
do u have your cruise control attached?
m20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.

I've been reading DIY's on this and they keep mentioning some plastic clip that they have to break to get the old cable out, is it this thing:

Some times the cable will frey inside the sheathing and cause it to be hard to press. Replace it with a new one and you'll be golden.
Shouldn't have to break anything to replace the cablel; its pretty straight forward.

my pedal was crazy stiff when I bought my car, It caused me to stall car often because it was hard to launch without pretty much blasting off. I popped the hood and sprayed some wd-40 down where the throttle cable goes down into the firewall and its been good ever since, this was over a year ago.

                    Its worth a try

It will probably take you a 1/2 hr your first time replacing the cable.

I replaced #7 on my e30 after seeing one of mine was missing, and it made little difference. I replaced the cable and it was smooth as could be. Replace the cable and never look back.

Fap99.com and Autohausaz.com both have the cable under $$20.

OK looks good. The only problem I can see looking at it is that my number 17 is seized to my cable. Ill probably just replace those parts as well. Thanks for the help guys!
