Could this be my throttle stuck open???

so im driving my car like normal today, not drifting, and when i get to a light the rpm's are up at 1200. I pull over and go to close the throttle body from under the hood and that fixes it. I pick up my homie Drin, and on the way to the JY it does it again. I had some liquid wrench lubricant on me so I sprayed the throttle body hinges to loosen things up.

What im wondering is has anyone had this happen to them because the springs/hardware on their throttle body are too old and rusted? I dont like seeing the rpms at 1200 randomly but it just came about today and didnt happen again after the lubricant was sprayed on it. but if i can replace that hardware id rather do that.
    any links?

    thanks for the help

Does your car have the cruise control actuator cable still connected?

That could easily be a bad throttle cable.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

cruise control is still connected. dont know why, i just dont know how to take it off. and if i take it off I would want to take off the lever by the wheel also so i havnt done it.

I thought about a new throttle cable but idk what that would do. its all the same material. and i dont see how woven wire could wear away. if im wrong please correct me.lol

I thought i read something about there being a plastic clip that makes the throttle cable stuck if it gets too old. is this true? or should i just replace the throttle cable and go from there
        Thanks for input fellas

I need to do this...can you just reconnect it and retain its functionality for road trips?

              thanks bruh!
thats it tho. just cut the wire, what about the cruise control module thingy. I wouldnt mind getting rid of some of the junk under my hood starting with that!

and then how do I go about getting rid of the cruise control handle. I dont want to cut the cord and the handle still be there pissing me off.lol im weird

good to know tho. if its that simple im just gonna cut that shit and get a new throttle cable. it may be 24yrs old and need a refresh

Sounds like your throttle cable is worn/gunked up. You can try pulling ti out and cleaning it, but generally you won't make it work like new again. Just buy a new one, they are cheap.

And FYI, oil will only help so much as it will collect more dirty and generally make it worse after a while.
