    New rattle?? HELP!!!

Recently my car has found a new noise to make... an annoying ass rattle from the front of the engine. Its not a constant rattle, it comes and goes very regularly though. Its more noticeable at idle but it speeds up with engine speed when it does rattle. I took the serpentine belt off and it quit?? It sounds like its coming from the middle pulley. Alternator is new.. Idk what the hell could be cause this. Timing and tension er and water pump all replace about 2yrs ago. I held my fan still and it continued to rattle. HELP!!!

M20s don't have a serpentine belt? Are you talking about one of your three v-belts? Or the timing belt? There's a good chance this noise you have is the timing belt tensioner. Even if it's only 2 years old, they do fail early sometimes. Just this week I replaced my tensioner that had only 13k miles on it. It was making all kinds of racket.

Its strange though. It stopped when I started the car without the alternator belt on. So water pump?

Could be, or it could be the fan clutch. It could also be loose alternator mounts or the alternator.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I don't know if it's causing the noise but if he's holding it with his hand to keep it from spinning the fan clutch is bad anyway
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!

I think it may be the fan clutch but would it make a noise?
