    fuel line problems? help.

i was driving my car around the other night and i noticed it was choking everyonce and a while and then it was getting worse. when i stopped to drop a friend off my car stalled and would not start again.

my first thoughts were that it had something to do with the fuel pump or filter. Beause they havnt been changed since i got the car 6 years ago.

i really hope its not the fuel pump cause those cost alot and are a pain in the ass to remove.
Anyone know what could possibly be wrong or anything i
can do to check to make sure its my fuel pump?

Change the filter and then run the fuel system tests in the Bentley manual.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Fuel pump is about $154. Taking the old one out and put the new one in is not that difficult...take the back seat out then remove a few screws to expose the fuel pump. Depends on the year, remove the pump takes a bit of patience. It takes me only 1/2 hour to do the job and I am not that mechanically versed. There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing you how to replace the fuel pump. Good luck.

tomarrow im gonna take out the fuel pump and do some tests to see if its bad. if it is i have to decide wether to pull one from a yard or get a new one. ill probably just use one from a yard temp just so i can get a good one

Just bang on pump and see if it helps... helped mine (it is from 2006)

Just take the cover off. Place large screwdriver on top and give the screwdriver a few hits with a ratchet or something (I used some cheap pipe)

Thought i'd piggie back on this thread instead of starting a new one. So I'm trying to finish my m10 to m20 swap but for some odd reason the pump is not pushing fuel. I thought it might be out of gas so I put in 5 gallons of fuel. I also removed the fuel filter to rule it out even though it looked new. When I jump the pump I can hear them both running and the line builds up air pressure. I primed the lines from the FPR side and plugged it in to the fuel rail but it won't push it out the other side. When I disconnect the line it does spray all over the place but when I jump the pump again it just gurgles. I think it may be a hole or a disconnected pick up line in the tank. I'll check for that tomorrow. Any ideas in case that's not it?.

Mine is an '88 vert. You can use two long screw drivers to form an X to open the fuel pump if you don't want to bang it with a hammer.

My first thought is that you have the supply line from the pump connected to the FPR, which is wrong. The supply line connects to the rail and the return line connects to the FPR.

If the hoses are connected correctly, either the high pressure pump is bad or the FPR is bad if return fuel doesn't flow from the FPR.
