Can throttle body coolant leak into intake?

I couldn't find any pictures with the heater loop removed from the throttle body so I can't tell.

If the gasket between the coolant loop and throttle body is completely shot, can coolant leak into the intake?

I'm smelling coolant out the exhaust and I think I'm losing coolant very slowly. I replaced the head gasket about 14 months ago so I'm hoping that's not the issue. At times the temperature runs about half a tick above the midway point.

nope. it's simply a plate that the hose connects to that functions like a heatsink. coolant doesn't circulate into the body

Technically it could if the throttle body was rusted through, but I doubt thats that case.

Start looking for HG signs again...

I wasn't aware that aluminum can rust.

          Aluminium corrodes.

shunt for the breather hose is steel. that could rust if the gasket gives out. but ive had 3 of those gaskets fail and the coolant leak is so noticeable that i doubt a rust hole could form before you lost all your coolant.

heh you guys...the idea is that nothing is indestructible and anything is possible at this age .

But anyways the OP's problem sounds like another HG problem to me. If you want you can disconnect these lines and plug them and see if there is still a loss of coolant.

Thanks for the responses. I've removed the throttle body from the circuit to see what happens. Problem now is that I've noticed my temperature gauge is incorrect, so it may not be heating up at all. With the lights on it goes up, lights off back to normal. I tried searching apparently this can be a ground issue?

Test out the sender and wiring. Turn ignition on, and unclip the wires from the sender (the sender is on the thermostat housing, I think the gauge is the brown one). If the gauge is still up 1/2 way, the wires are grounding out. If the temp gauge goes back down the sender is shot and needs to be replaced.

Turned out to be the oil pan to chassis ground strap. Cleaned it well with a file and coolant temp now runs a half tick below center. Guess the coolant loss was in my head. As far as the odd exhaust smell I'm guessing now it's from running rich.
