Look like its time for new cap & rotor?

I bought this '92 325ic in 2010 with 120k on it. Now has 125k. Is it time for new distributor cap and rotor?

I am changing the water pump and timing belt.
Thanks for the tech help on that job from this forum! :D

    yes change it.
I just bought a 325e with 116K and the cap and rotor looked like it was never changed.

runs much better with the new parts!

You can just clean the contacts up with a bit of sandpaper or a wire brush, but replacing them is also a good idea. You can only clean them so many times before the spacing between the contacts get too far and causes problems.

might as well replace them, they are clearly worn and you already have them off

Thanks! I ordered replacements from Blunttech. I'll scuff these off and put them in the M20 emergency kit with the old hoses and belts.

Mine were shot too. Replaced them yesterday and the car runs much better now.
