85 e30 weird no start up problem

One day it just wouldn't start...ran good for like 5 months...if I let it sit, the next morning it always starts and runs for like a hour but when i shut it off then again no start, and then next morning it starts...has spark, changed main relay...sprayed starter fluid into carb after a no start and it starts but shuts off...I don't know if it's the fuel pumps cause I hear them, I'm bout to change my fuel filter next....what can it be? This is my daily driver

This sounds like a fuel problem. A check of rail fuel pressure when the engine fails to start should be illuminating.

It could be something else, but check the fuel system first.
