    high idle

i recently cleaned the icv and its been fine for a couple weeks, I just finished putting some new strut cartridges, rotors and pads. when i go to lower the car
the idle shot up to about 2k.

The ICV was cleaned a couple weeks ago, I also tried pushing the throttle
closed and the idle does die down, but as soon as you open it the rpms stay at
2k and dont drop down. The only way to drop the rpms is to manually close the throttle, and even then theres not that much play.

    any other ideas?

When you say manually close the throttle, do you mean using the adjustment screw on the throttle body? Does the idle fluctuate at all other than warmup or once it's warmed up does it just stay at 2k RPMs, everything else being constant?

If it's always high I would adjust the throttle plate manually a fraction until it's right. Otherwise the ICV is fairly suspect, see if you can borrow someone else's to rule it out of the problem.

i meant pulling on the throttle, but it doesnt fluctuate at all just constant, even while driving, it stays at 2k, ill pull the icv again and see if any parts fall out, I also checked the resistance a couple weeks ago and i remember it being within spec.

ill try to adjust the throttle plate, see if that helps, but would it ultimatley fix the problem?

adjusting it seems more like a temporary fix to me...

The most common cause of this would be intake leaks. Have a shop run a smoke test and fix the leaks it reveals.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
