I have a 86 325e with the motronic 1.0 DME. It's the one with two rows of pins.
part number is 0 261 200 027. is this a unique part number for this car?

I see a bunch of different ones for sale and they claim to work with my car along with a few others which have the same engine. However they dont always have the same part number as mine.

get started answering your question by finding out which DME's (distinguished by the last 3 numbers in the part #, example 179) have which version of the motronic software. there are at least two versions 1.0 and 1.3. eariler models have earlier versions of Motronic.
