    Strange Whining Sound

So I just replaced my head and now pretty much from 800rpm and up I get a very high pitched whining sound from the engine. It doesn't sound like a belt as it's very constant. This is all when the car is parked. When it's in gear and I'm driving it around the sound goes away under heavier acceleration. So anytime there's a decent load on the engine the sound goes away.

I'm at a loss of what it is. When I did the head I also replaced the timing belt, tensioner, head gasket, bolts, cap, rotor and new wires.

    EDIT: Video

    Here's a video:

If you're wondering about that extra little hose above the TB it's a temporary breather hose I fabbed up because I snapped it and am waiting for the replacement from the dealership.

Doesn't sound good. Maybe something is starved for oil after you did the head.

Can tell us where its coming from? maybe put some vacuum hose in your ear and listen around.

It almost sounds like it's coming near the throttle body, but it's fairly loud so I can't actually tell where.

                Then it must be air...

Get a proper ccv hose and go from there, use this to help:

I would start removing hoses at idle, create a vac leak and see which one affects the whine.

Double check for vac/intake leaks, could just be air getting sucked in just the right way making that sound.

I know with my charger i had a similar noise, would annoy the crap out of me but for some reason the way the carburetor sucked in air at idle youd get a sound just like that...put your hand over the carb to disrupt the flow a bit and the noise would go away.

Is it as high pitched as the video makes it out to be?
I was going to mention the trans slowly nuking itself, but the video made me think other wise.

Ha, sounds like a Powermax turbo diesel.

Definitely sounds like an air leak to me.

When the throttle is depressed isn't there no air going through the ICV though?
