    Starter question

Does anyone know, what is the easiest way to replace the starter on a 90 e30?
i read on a few forums that you need to jack up the tranny? and other saying you dont? my car wouldnt start today, it totally sounded like the starter, so i popped started and whent to the shop and purchased a new starter, i want to get working on it first thing in the morning, if someone could direct me to the right direction, many thanks.

I didn't need to jack up the tranny at all on my '87. I would recommend removing the intake/afm and going from under there. Also check this thread for a few tips:

And to be honest I have no idea why people make it out to be so hard, I didn't need any U-joints or anything, just an extension or 2.
