    1990 325ic Fuel System Questions...

I am new to the club and loving my "new to me" 325ic... I filled up the tank yesterday, and when I got home there was a strong gas smell. I investigated and pulled both 'hatches' under the rear seat and everything looked dry (although under the fuel sender hatch there was a stronger gas smell). Then I looked under the car and the driver's side of the fuel tank had some gas moisture like there was a little leak up top and something was running down. Plus when I was under there looking around my fuel lines are way rusty and need replacing and the rubber hoses in and out of the fuel filter are dry rotted, so I might as well replace those. (I'm thinking hoses 1,2,9,&10) and is do you think sender for the leak? Where is a decent place to get these parts? I checked the part list where I got the schematic but #9,10 were simply labeled "Hose".

    So I guess to summarize:
Is there a how to, to replace fuel lines?
Where's the best place to get them? (or does anyone on here have some?)

    Thanks!

I have no personal experience to share. That said, it is my understanding the fuel hose(s) are pretty generic. Most auto supply stores sell it by the foot.

The metal lines are available from the dealer. I am interested to determine if they are pre-bent or just cut-to-length or ?

Other threads I've read say they've just bought tubing and that a flaring tool is necessary for installation.

Please report back on your findings. Mine need to be replaced too. Oh, wait, the threads I'm thinking of were for brake lines but I need those too. I anticipate the applications will be similar.

Email Blunttech for the parts & seriously either email or call him. His website is http://www.blunttech.com/

Good Luck & also look on Amazon for the Bentley Manual, it'll help with the install or check local craigslist as well.

some of the hoses are pre-formed. some you just use fuel line and bend.

ive changed them out before. it sucks, wear glasses and a mask, it will spray all over your face. there are also a bunch of hose clamps, replace them as-well.

and Blunttech will be the cheapest

          +1

Some of the rubber lines are pre bent for tight spaces and if you try to use standard hose it will kink and cut of fuel flow.

Thanks for all the input... here's what I have found:
            #9 & #10 are specialty pre-bent rubber (about $19 from pelicanparts)
#10 you can simply use fuel hose
#1 & #2 cannot (or should not) be replaced with rubber and they are $55 HOWEVER you have to coil them to ship them which is a pain and I was quoted a shipping rate of $42 from WI to IN...
