distributor on the side of the block

So i know that some m20's came with a distributor of the side of the block instead of using the camshaft one. Is there any advantage of using this distributor? Maybe to be able to adjust timing and get a little bit more power.

It would be way more problems than positives.

Especially considering that the DME will freak the fuck out. It controls the timing.

If you wanted to use the distributor as the timing pickup for the ignition you would need to create an independent ignition system to run the E21 distributor. I have one for sale if you want to try.

If you want to use it only as a spark distributor (like motronic) it would work but would have no advantage and might have crossfire issues due it's smaller diameter.
