Won't start

I have a car that will not start when cold. I did get it started a couple of times qand it runs great but if it sits overnight, it is impossible to start. New coil, fuel pressure regulator, wires, etc. It seems to be flooding out before it starts. Planty of spark, good fuel pressure. Thinking it could be in the temp sensor circuit. Temp sensor is the one closes to the fire wall, right? What is the other sensor in the housing? I noticed some cars have one pin in this sensor and others have two pins? Why the difference?

The temp sensor on the thermo housing is the ECT sensor that gives info to the ECU for the i engines.

If its temp related then I would also go with a faulty sensor or, depending on the engine, a faulty cold start injector.

Sorry, I didn't say it was a 325I, no cold start injector. Ok, the back (or closes to firewall) is the info to the ECU. The front sensor reads temp for gauge, but my Bentley said something about timing too, did I read that right?

Bentley is talking about the crankshaft position sensor that reads the toothed vibration dampener.

Do you know why some cars have two pins in the temp sender for the gauge and others have one. Trying to match up a good engine harness and that is a difference that I see.

Leaking injectors can cause this problem and flood the engine if it sits long enough. After letting the engine sit overnight, remove the fuel pump relay or fuse, drain any pressure from the fuel rail, remove the plugs and have someone crank over the engine. If there is a smell of fuel or fuel spraying from the plug openings the injectors are leaking.
