    Valve Eccentrics Replacement

While adjusting the valves on my m20 last week my buddy and I found that two wouldn't adjust properly and seemed to need replacement. I assume that if I'm going to replace two eccentrics I should just do all 12 at once?

Should I be replacing the nut and bolt with each eccentric as well or is that unnecessary? I ask because I'm still getting oil on plug #4 so if it isn't this valve cover gasket I'm unsure how much further I want to go with this engine.

I'd replace all of the eccentrics if one or more need it. The bolts and nuts aren't expensive and it would make sense to use new ones.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Sounds good. The whole set of eccentrics/nuts/bolts is only $50ish from blunt I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being OCD for no reason.

just make sure to plug all your oil passages and have a small magnet to pick up the dropped parts.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not terribly familiar with the inner workings of the engine, is there a list of the passages or a diagram somewhere I could take a look at?

Do it. They're cheap(ish) and wear out. Mine were all flat sided so I'd adjust the valves and they'd go out of spec in a thousand miles.

+1 you're going to want to get some shop rags and cover the holes

there are a lot of holes. one on the high side, under the intake manifold. and a bunch on the low side next to exhaust. heres a pic of the under side. the far right, shows the 6 lower.

and here is the side hole.
