Contact between hood liner + m20 ok?

I pulled a hood liner out of a car at the junkyard, I think it was a 318 but it was so long ago I can't remember. Purpose was to deaden sound a bit.

I'm not sure if there were any variations of the liner depending on engines, but this one seems to make a little contact with the top of the motor. I suppose it should be ok as there are no extremely hot bits up there, but curious what the deal is with liners none the less.

Yes, they're different. His was similar to a sound deadening foam you line walls with. Mine was just a heat liner that looks like a topography map.
