will a caustic cleaning dip eat the needle bearings for the oil pump shaft gear? and can i find a new one if needed?

    Yes it can.

So you're saying that you dipped the block in the caustic liquid? Do you know what it was exactly?

I don't know how to go about replacing the bearings, but it might just be easier to get a new bottom end.

Hot tanking the engine will destroy the intermediate shaft bearings. They can be replaced, but doing so is a good bit of work and fitting of the bearings is necessary.

no i didn't dip it yet. but the needle bearings for the oil pump shaft gear in the block, not the i. shaft but the gear driven by the i. shaft. its the one that you access by removeing the cap on the side near the bottom of the block.

I don't think that hot tanking the block would damage the needle bearing, but it will definitely destroy the intermediate shaft bearings. The needle bearing is easy to replace, the intermediate shaft bearings aren't.
