    RPM Dependent Rattle around 2k

Maybe someone has had this same issue... (86es)

This morning on the way to work I noticed a weird sound when accelerating. It only happened a tiny bit before 2k and ended shortly after that RPM amount. It sounds like a rattle, maybe when the engine hits 1.8k or 2k something resonates at a certain frequency to make a sort of harsh rattle sound...

I'll try to post a video tomorrow as it's really hard to describe the sound. The only reason why I heard it was because the windows were down and I was driving next to a curb/median (sound reflects). It sounds like it's coming from the bottom of the car though I cant be sure.

    Any ideas?

BTW, I have another lower pitched rattle whenever the clutch pedal is NOT pushed down (clutch engaged), though through searching have seen people say this is just how the transmission is/throughout bearing/input shaft nut/other stuff. Just thought I'd throw that out there as well since this could be related.

I had an issue like this a few days ago that I took care of. To me it sounded very metallic. Like an engine running with no oil. It was an exhaust bolt. Just make sure all that stuff is tight before you go deep into diaging other stuff.

Yep very metallic sounding. I'll check there first today, thanks for the heads up!

Get under the car and hit the exhaust pipe, I'd bet your noise is a loose heat shield.
