    Leaking oil pan gasket

Since I bought my car in January, my car has had a leak from under it. I fixed one (cam guide) but its still leaking. From what I can tell its coming from the rear of my oil pan at the gasket. Its the part that is blocked by the suspension.

I heard its a pain in the ass to replace these gaskets. whats the word.

Since the first week of January i've out 4 quarts in so it leaks a decent amount...

For your sake I would hope its the oil pan gasket. Might be the rear crankshaft seal since its dripping back there. That fix requires separating the engine and tranny, pulling flywheel and finally you're at the seal. The oil pan gasket can be changed with the engine in the car but it is also a bitch.

its not hard to change at all. youll need an engine brace to hold the engine up with the mounts unbolted. and a hook that has a thread so it can be lifted. you then drop the 4 bolts that hold the subframe in and unbolt the sump. itll drop down and come out. its not as hard as people think. approx 1-2 hours work.
a word of caution though. have plenty of cleaning products for oil drips ect and leave it to drop the oil out for awhile so that when the contact surfaces are 100% dry when the new gasket goes on otherwise it wont seal right again.
