525 in 1990 325i? Will it work?

Does anyone know if a 525 dme will work in my 1990 325i. I need to take the chipped dme out so I can pass smog.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Its not out of a 525i, the bosch # is 0 261 200 "525".

Yes it shall. They used it in the E34 and the E30, just not as commonly in the E30 as it was the later years that got them.
Also, it's a motronic 1.3 unit, just in case you were wondering.
