Not really a question here, more of just letting off steam because I am angry!
A couple weeks ago I decided I didn't like wiping up oil from my garage floor any more & that I was going to fix the various oil leaks on my M20. As far as I could tell there were 4 leaks: Oil pan gasket, one oil cooler line, oil filter housing control valve gasket, and rocker shaft bungs. The camshaft seal may be slightly leaking too, but I'll deal with that during the next timing belt change.
I took my time changing everything over the last few days, buttoned it all back up, and let the car idle to operating temp in my garage (twice!).
At about the 12 mile mark on my 15 mile trip to work this morning, the oil light on the check panel comes on & at the same time I start to smell burning oil. Crap!
I pull off the road & when I get out I see a thin trail of oil on the road behind the car. Look under the hood and see oil dripping from the oil filter housing.
Throw a quart in and continue to work.
At work, I let the car cool off, then start it again. Now the dripping leak is a stream. It dumped probably 1/4 quart in a couple of minutes idling. I get underneath and see it is leaking from the cover of the control valve. I guess I installed the new one wrong? Maybe damaged the o-ring? Ordered a new one which won't arrive until Tuesday.
And of course the weather this weekend is supposed to be perfect cruise the E30 with the top down weather! Waaahhhhh!
Miserably yours,
MM
