I have an 86' 325e right now, besides an 885 head / intake manifold etc., what wiring / ecu do I need to use?

Use wiring and electronics from an "i" ECU and a 153 or 173 ECU-Alex -
does it matter the year? Or is there just some splicing required anyhow?Comment

best bet is to use a 88+ harness with a 173 dme. Theres only 2 wires to splice for the tack and OBC to work. You can still use the eta starter it runs on 2 wires, but the Later harness has 3 wires one you dont need. Also for the Oil level sensor just get one from a late model car. Its very easy, I just finished my swap 2 weeks ago now.
Ohh yeah allmost forgot. The o2 sensor on your eta is a 3 wire, the late model uses a 4 wire. You will need a m50 4 wire o2 sensor or just extend the wires to reach the etas o2 bung.
