    A/C conversion Help!

    Hey guys,
I'm currently trying to figure out how to convert my A/C to r-134. Supposedly it was already converted. And as far as i can tell the fittings and hoses look new. However i noticed that it needed to be recharged and I did so with R-134 and it leaked out. So I went without A/c for a while . One day my a/c compressor was making a terrible noise so I cut the belt and it stopped. So I know I need a new compressor and I looked into it and hear that some compressors made by a certain date in 1987 and on were compatible with R-134. I don't know what else I'm looking for as far as switches and dryer. And how can I tell if it was converted right? Any input and help as far as affordable options and kits!
    Thanks,
    Hunter

The search function on this site and e30 tech are your friend's. From a quick search here is some info. The information is available on the web you just need to do some searching.

"Cars with a build date of 09/87 had the upgraded lines, just not the high and low fittings.
The condenser is the same for all of the cars
The evaporator is the same for all of the cars
The compressors are the same part numbers, but there has been some talk of issues with the early pumps no working with the 134a, try to find a later 09/87 and up pump."

Thanks, I have been searching. So far Im getting the compatible compressor and receiver drier and necessary switches. Lines and fittings appear updated. That is all I can tell. I was just trying to find someone who may have recently done it.

By pumps do you mean compressor? If so what are the part numbers
