    blue smoke...oil/fuel on spark plugs

ok, so shes burning oil/fuel mix...problem is I cant tell if its running rich causing oil washdown or if my piston rings or valve seals or both are bad...gonna try and run a compression test next chance I get just to at least see if theres an internal problem

do a leak down test. Im having the same issue only burning oil past 5,000 rpms. I did a comp test and all cyls were at 150psi ( b27 w i head )

yeah, same here...runs and drives fine when warm...but is hard to start and runs like garbo til warm...once warm it puts out blue smoke when you rev it to about 5 grand

I have no smoke till i'm past 5k. Still pulls great all the way to 6800. I did have oil on the spark plugs and small amounts of oil in the spark plug journals. I have a pretty bad cam shaft seal leak and someone told me there's chances of that oil building up in the journals and seeping past the spark plugs. The head is fresh, maybe 1,000 miles if that on it. Who knows? I'm hoping its the seal, so i ordered all new parts last night :D

yeah, Imma haveta observe more and run some diagnostics...swapped the motor in a couple of months ago and it has reman tags on it...and the company I bought it from claimed good compression test so I dont know...worst case scenario imma just bore out the old eta block and add one of Mystr Es i heads and just try to boost that engine

dumb question, but camshaft seals keep oil from leaking outside the engine thru the camshaft right?

leaks out right behind the cam gear/dizz above the water pump.

dont think mines leaking there cuz i didnt notice anything when i changed the timing belt a few weeks ago, though i keep seeing a small amount of oil leaking from right at the head gasket under the cam, but I dont think its the head gasket

There is no way that oil on the outside of the engine can get past the spark plugs.

You need to do a leak down test. But you can make a pretty guess as to the cause by when the engine smokes. If it smokes at high rpm when accelerating rings are usually the cause. If it only smokes on a closed throttle while decelerating from high rpm valve guides and seals are the likely suspects.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Ive heard one trick to find out if its the piston rings, you run a compression test, annotate the numbers, then put a few drops of oil in the spark plug hole of the cylinder(s) of the one thats low...if the compression then raises in that cylinder, the rings are bad

Mine smokes upon deccelaration after 5k too. This was after the i head swap. Everything on the Head was replaced except valve guides.

i did a comp test and had 150psi on all cyls. I know I need to do a leak down test to make sure. If i get my parts tomorrow i will install and clean up everything. ATM im not getting blue smoke but running stupid rich ( black smoke ) and feel a small cut out around 4500.
So new plugs and check the wires is on the list. Still donno how oil is getting in the spark plug jurnals. The Valve cover gasket is new, shit all the seals are new beside the cam shaft seal.
