    Valvetrain issue

    Hey you guys,

I just finished swapping in a 5 speed tranny and I'm having this problem with the valve train. I opened up the cover and turned on the car and saw that the oil was only building up at the front side of the engine and there was no circulation going to the back end of the engine.. I recently broke two rocker arms on two different occasions and they were the back two (Cylinder 5 & 6) on the intake side. Please give me some advice i need to get my car going because its my daily.

be sure your oil squirt bar is not clogged and is tight. It's the long skinny bar that runs from the front of the head to the back.

          New Update....

I've taken out the spark plugs and disabled the ignition system so the starter could have an easy time cranking the motor over and i started to notice that the oil squirt bar is dripping oil out as if there is little to no pressure and the front side of the head is over flowing with oil and not so much from the back.
I'm going to check the oil pressure to see if the oil pump is functional and if it is im going to take out the heads and get them worked on.

When you were running the engine and looking at the oil from the squirt bar, was the car just idling? I remember reading a while back about how m20's don't develop much oil pressure at idle resulting in little oil flow in the squirter. I'm not sure if thats true at all, maybe someone else can confirm.

It didn't really Idle correctly because the cover was removed so i had a friend hold the rpms at around 1.5 to 2 k and i immediately shut off of the car because there was no oil going to the rockers. I didn't want another rocker to break.
Even when i use the starter to prime the motor it doesnt go through the squirt bar

Do you have an oil pressure gauge installed?

If no, then install one before you turn that engine over again.

I checked my local parts store and they didnt have one. I believe there is on that connects at the bottom where the oil pressure sensor goes and checks the pressure.
