1984 325e timing belt change. Please help.

Ok. So I was forced to change the broken timing belt in my car. It takes a whole day of mistakes and frustration of getting the fan cough and belts off. When it comes to the AC compressor belt its Damn near impossible for me to take off. I hear that some people just use a towel and crank the car so the belt comes off i guess. But I can't do that becouse my timing belt is broken. So I was guna try and manually do it by sticking a socket in the crankshaft pully and turning the crank till the belt slips off, but I can't becouse for some odd reason my crankshaft bolt isn't a size 22mm socket. All I know is that its bigger then a 25mm.

I would like to know if someone put a common aftermarket crankshaft in these cars. If so what would be the bolt size I need.

Any input on taking off and putting back on the AC compressor belt would be much appreciated.
If anything sounds wrong please excuse me I'm only 17 with little knowledge of my baby.

Measure it. That's the only way you'll know for sure.

You've loosened the a/c compressor and move it toward the motor, right?

If you have, and the belt is tight, you have the wrong belt. Cut that sucker off and replace with the correct length.

No I haven't done so. It was Damn near midnight when I stopped for the night cuz I realized theres no tensioner and I don't have the socket for the crankshaft bolt. So I should just loosen/ take off the AC compressor and move it to remove the belt?

The compressor is the tensioner. Loosen the bolts/nuts and turn the nut that has the teeth on it. It'll move the compressor toward the motor.

I just remove the whole pump, its only two bolts...and if you put the new belt on the pump while its disconnected it wont give you issues when you mount the pump back up
may you rest in peace, or pieces, whichever comes first
