    Engine Idle Trouble

    Hey guys,

So after swapping a new engine into my 89' 325i, its having some issues staying running. After starting it will surge up to 1300 rpms for a couple seconds running smooth then bogs down and dies... Any suggestions on things I should check over or look further into? I did check all of the sensors but the engine oil light is still on. Its as if there was a big vaccum leak on the intake. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Thanks for lookings,

If by engine oil light you mean the one in the cluster, do not run the engine until you find out why the light is on. It could be a bad connection or bad oil pressure switch, but it could be real and mean the engine has no oil pressure. If it is the oil light in the check panel, that can be ignored for now.

Intake leaks or fuel delivery would be my first suspicions as to the idle/run problem.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Just the check panel light is on, I believe due to a lost connection on the sensor. I've never been the best at trouble shooting problems but ill look further into the fuel and intake.

      Thanks,

The check panel light is the oil level sensor. The light being on with correct oil level via the dipstick could be a bad connection at the sensor or a gummed up sensor.
