200K miles on eta, should i chip?

As the title says i have around 200,000 miles on my 85 eta.
It burns some oil but runs smooth.
So my question is, would it be "safe" to chip it?
Im not sure if advancing the timing and giving her more fuel at her old age will be worth it.
Anyone with previous experience please feel free to chime in.

yup, my eta had over 200K and ran flawlessly except that it burned oil - it was much more fun after a chip!

Yeah, after adding a chip, it'll change :) But with more rpm added in the chip, and shifting near the red line will start burning oil quickly

I had a Dinan chipped '85 eta motor, over 160k miles. Ran it to "the new" red line a couple times and it was good fun

Then I blew a head gasket...

I feel like these cars were designed to burn oil straight off the factory line...

Go for it. One of my biggest E30 regrets was not installing my DINAN chip in my B27 before swapping it out.

Not to mention, even if you do some damage a used B27 is like $200 (if you don't already have one lying around like 90% of R3v)..

Haha yea pinning it to get on the freeway and only going 50mph can be a little sketchy.
