Loosing power after 4000ks and wont rev any higher please help

Hello buds, I got problem with my 1989 e30 325I and I can't figure what is the issues. Before I start spending money, I'd like some feedback on what it could be. So my problem is I was driving the other day as my car need to shift, my rpm stop at 4000k and started to loose power bad. So I kept all my shifting under 4000k it was some what okay to drive , and then in between driving car died twice . So please get back at me with any info please.

    Answer this question...

What happened at the exact moment the car died?

Did it die all at once or did it slowly come to a stop?
Did the dash lights come back on when it died or did it just cut out/tachometer went straight to zero?

This could be a few issues. It would help if you had more specific information here. I have a similar issue going on with my '89 325iC and have been slowly working through several typical problem areas with the m20.

Are you losing power in every gear over 4K rpm?
Does this only happen when the car is cold/hot/both?
Does this happen when you rev the car in neutral above 4K?
When you say the car "dies", do you mean it stalls out in idle when stopped?

Check the WOT switch in the TPS and see what the fuel rail pressure is while driving the car and reaching 4k.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

When I was driving to work, I was in second gear getting ready to shift to third, my rpms stop going over 4000k, it tried to go over but it was just having to much trouble. And I had my foot down all the way down, and the car would loose its speed. And for some reason it just died at the light and it had a hard time turning on, like a good min till I turn it on.

Well my.car won't rev over 4000k, only in the rain, over it's humid when it rains.

Nothing happens when it's just sitting.

The car died has i was trying to give it power while I tried to shift, but at the same time it was not going over 4000k.

Forgot to mention I had seen bits of coolant inside the connector.
