Does anyone know if the early e cars use the same 60-2 crank position setup as the later i cars? (obviously not in the same location, but the same tooth count/setup?)

there is a speed sensor on the bell housing (front one) that reads the ring gear.
and the timing sensor (farther back one) only picks up 1 tooth on the flywheel.
on late models it detects the pattern and doesnt a lot more in one sensor.84 325e - 91 325i - 92 318 touring - 91 Trans Am - 01 S4 avant - 03 S-type R - 96 F350 - 15 SS - 84 Biturbo - 91 Defender

actually he is right. only its a speed and reference sensor is the technical term. like he said, one reads the flywheel teeth, the other reads a small little rectangular piece of steel mounted on the flywheel, i wouldnt exactly call it a tooth.
I learned about that one "tooth" the hard way because i had a fidanza lightweight flywheel that i thought would work, put the whole car together and it wouldn't start. figured out that i HAD to use the eta flywheel because of that "tooth"Originally posted by Beastolizerwhat is the difference between the 12 LED and 6 LED and 24 LED?Originally posted by norcalE30you may want to sit down, this is complex...
one has 6 LEDs, one has 12 LEDs, and one has 24 LEDs
