Early Eta's up until Sept.1985 had a compression ratio of 11:1. The blocks of these engines is stamped 27 6KA. From 9/86 the compression ratio was dropped to 10.2:1 and these engines are stamped 27 6EB.

If you mean other specs no idea lol. Im in the middle of doing a Euro piston build.

ya the super early etas were special with the 11.1 piston. finding the 11.1 pistons is crazy hard. i found a set one time but i ended up not buying them (face palm)

I actually have Euro 323i pistons...Hoping they are the same as the Early eta's

cool, thanks guy. The car is a 84 so I'm guessing it has the good block.

yezzir, mated with an "I" head will put ya at 10:1 CR range.

Ah so i should just look for the casting mark to see if it is indeed a euro spec

im confused so if they stopped making the 11:1ratio around 9/85 and they went to the 10.2:1 ratio on 9/86 where does that leave my euro sitting at?

I just went to one of those VIN decode sites for BMW and i found this

                      Production date 1985-09-02

but on my door it said Manufacture date 5/86

does this mean i barely got the compression ratio 11:1?
