    Blown head gasket

    Long story short- Rebuilt top end, put back together, headgasket blew.

    I spent the past couple days putting my engine back together. I had the head rebuilt after the timing belt broke.

    I put all new parts onto the engine.

    I got the got the car running. It fired up first shot.
    I had a slight overheating issue, which ended up being i switched two coolant lines which ran to the throttle body. I fixed this issue and the overheating issue went away.

    I had also adjusted the valves.
    The valvetrain did sound a bit noisy, but i chalked that up to it being the m20 and it needing some fresh oil. Which I was going to change right away.

    I took the car out and it felt fine and drove well.
    I got a couple blocks away when the car started to sound really bad, like a valve was hitting. I babied it home coasting as much as I could. the car would not stay running at this point, but it would run.

    Stopped the car, popped the hood and smoke came pouring out. I could see oil quickly draining out of the engine, and found the leak right at #3 cylinder on the passenger side. Pretty heavy oil flow.

    What did I do wrong?
    How bad is the engine going to be?
    what should I do?

    Dude. I feel for ya. That really sucks. At this moment, I'm at a loss for words.

      Im really afraid that I warped the head. I hope that it was just a bad headgasket, or something.

        Did you have the head checked for cracks and resurfaced while it was off?

        Switching the throttle body lines won't make it overheat, the coolant just flows through it.

          if the head is crack-free and resurfaced properly, and new head bolts were properly torqued, then this ^ is the problem with the oil leak

            I had the head checked and resurfaced. It doesn't look like it would be crAcked as the oil is coming out between the block and the head.
