    poor cold start

My eta will not start smoothly first thing in the morning. I have to go out and give it gas and hold the pedal at 500 rpms for about 15 seconds then it will hold idle. when I drive it and get it to temp it gives me no problems the rest of the day. any ideas?

This will likely be a problem with the cold start system or intake leaks.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      coolant temperature sensor.

its on a bung by the thermostat. I have never heard if it could be cleaned.

symptoms are searching for idle when cold, until you go above a certain rpm, like you hit the gas to 2000 rpm and it will go away

it will leave the cold start cuicuit which is to idle higher until the coolant is hot.

+1 for the cold start valve (or something in the system.)

I recently put my car through a pre purchase inspection.

the inspector said my problem, with these exact same symptoms is caused by radiator stop leak gumming the temperature sensor guage.

I havent replaced it though but it makes perfect sense.
