    Oil leak..

Anyone have experience with the oil filter housing? here's some pics of my problem.

Here there is that bolt on the right of the housing that has a little drip coming from it and I will wipe the drip away and it will come back instantly. Also that's directly above where the spots on the ground are.

Here's another view of that bolt.

Now I'm thinking it is the bolt and gaskets from numbers: 4,5,6 (picture taken from http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...29&hg=11&fg=30)

    Thoughts and or help?

    It's a 22 year old car...expect leaks.

But, you're probably correct in assuming that it's the gasket. Also make sure the oil filter isn't screwed on too tightly, that could cause the gasket to deform and cause leaks...

21! Ya but I wanna fix it because it leaks a ton. I have watched the oil level drop significantly quick.

The valve used a faulty O-ring material and was later replaced in 11/90 with a better quality material called Viton, outlined in BMW Service Information bulletin 11 09 90 (3137). After seeing a number of posts regarding this common and annoying oil leak, I decided to document the fix.
Mine is a 91, after they replaced the faulty O-ring, should I rely on that info? I think I am going to try to power wash the housing, wipe it down really good and then do the news paper thing he did.
