Good fuel pressure, Got a Spark, Still wont crank...

New rebuilt motor dropped in 90 325ix. New battery, New 17lb injectors, Getting a Spark, Getting fuel to regulator. What am I missing...

I did hear about a small wire coming from the batter to the engine bay. I did a light test on it and its not working. My brothers car does pass the light test on the small wire. Could this not allow the engine to start?

I posted this in the general technical but was hoping to get more response here.

Unless the DME power leads are mis-connected, no power on the small wire from the battery would mean no spark or fuel pump operation. That small wire is where the DME power leads get power. If dead, the fusible link near the battery is open.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Very odd, because if that wire is not getting power then you should have no spark/fuel.

You can have fuel and spark and still a no start if the fuel pressure isn't correct or if the fuel injectors are not actually delivering fuel to the cylinder. Check the crank sensor, injection harness, and ICV connections again just to be sure. A noid light test on the injectors and a fuel pressure test would rule out any fuel issues.

OK. So the fuse link in the trunk was bad. So it was replaced with a 50A and we are now getting power in the engine bay. We had good fuel pressure to the fuel rail and the return hose had good pressure. Come to find out the return hose wasnt returning....We took that hose off to see if it would return. Then my fuel pump was randomly failing which we didnt known the whole time...So we jumped the fuel pump off and put the fuel line in the bottom of the regulator and the return at the top.

Basically the car is running finally.

Has anyone ever put the fuel line to the bottom of the regulator and the return hose up top?

If the return hose isn't returning then you're probably not getting the right fuel pressure to the injectors.

Maybe you had the fuel lines mixed up?
