Fuel in Intake? (m20b27)

So my brother who is too lazy to join the forum himself is running into finding "gas in the throttle body". This is his first e30 and he's down in TN so I'm having a bitch of a time getting him to listen to me and to get the info that I'm looking for so has anyone here had this sort of problem? I'm guessing that there's so issue with the coolant lines leaking into the TB and he's mistaking that for gas. Car is cranking but not turning over now. Before it would run horribly for a few minutes then stall. He's put a new (used) ICV and AFM in but hasn't tested either.

On an eta, sounds like the cold start injector may be stuck/shorted open. OR fuel is being blown upwards into the upper manifold by compression, because a valve is stuck open or the cam timing is jacked

Holy crap i forgot about that cold start system! Ill do a little research and have him check that out. I believe he's had random luck with the engine running fine for a few minutes before poor idle kicks in and kills it.

He only paid 600 and was being a huge baby about already spending money to fix it...

Before he throws money at his car (likely not from your post), have him bring the car to a shop to perform a smoke test. I suspect that he has some major vacuum leak.

oh he does for sure. So far he's only gotten a few parts off of a fellow R3Ver and he's got an appointment to get a new exhaust installed so it's getting a full run through by a BMW shop in Lebanon TN...so if any of you are near by there give this guy a hand!

Likely needs a new FPR. Pull the vacuum line off the FPR and if theres fuel in it....Yahtzee

I've been feeding him this jewels of wisdom...lets see if he follows through! He was one of those lucky guys that got an e36 and had NO problems what so ever with it. He's in new territory with the e30 now!
