question about m20.E or I / HOW

just got a 87 e30

the car was 325e.but it has 885 heads and 173 dme from 525i
the engine revs pass 6k,and still has the E diff rear end
i would like to know how to ID the block and some other stuff

ecu is in glove box, should be a 153 i think, dont quote me on it.

block will have 2.7 stamped on it, intake manifold is tighter on a "i", where the eta manifold is kinda ugly and wide
