    Idle at 3k

I Have a euro eta build date 9/85 with an 027 dme. I just finished working on it after it sat for 6 years and when I fired it up for the first time ever it jumps to 3k and holds solid. Tb is shut. Never seen an idle this high. It's pretty wild, not sure what can cause it. Any ideas?

This happened to me a week ago. Held idle at 3k as you said.

Turned out my butterfly was slightly pushed enough to trigger the TPS to click which in turn held the idle at 3k.
Figured out that the zip tie that was holding my ICV shut(wound around the throttle body and back), caught something and clicked the TPS.

Turn on your car and open the hood.
Push, with effort, AGAINST the butterfly. Opposite of opening. And see if it stops the high idle.
If so, your TPS is adjusted wrong.

    Or huge vacuum leak.

The first things I'd suspect would be an ICV that is stuck open or intake leaks. Remove and clean the ICV with carb cleaner until the van moves freely. Then have a smoke test run.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I did clean the icv. Pretty darn clean before and there was no change. Intake leaks should be at a minimum, I had the intake manifold off and changed everything. I double checked for human error. I have a hard time thinking an intake leak could cause an idle to go to three thousand.

I checked throttle and tps is not clicked open until i give it a hint of throttle so it feels fine. Could still be faulty, I'm going to test it. It does feel like a TPS issue the more I think about it.

There are a number of other places to have an intake leak. Have a shop run a smoke test.
