    Oil pressure after pan replacement

So I cracked my oil pan a couple nights ago. I got to a parking spot just as the oil pressure and oil level light came on. So I quick shut it off. The check engine light might have also come on.

I replaced oil pan by jacking engine, removing the oil pump, and the oil pressure thingy. Not really sure what it is. Installed everything, filled with 10w-40 and started car.

Upon starting oil pressure light was on but no check engine light or oil level. Waited a min to see if it would go off but it didn't. Tried starting it twice.

By this time kid was asleep so couldn't work on car. In the morning I plan on doing the oil pressure switch test in the Bentley. Just wondering what insight is out there and if I should do anything else. Hopefully I can get my hands on a pressure gauge too. Thanks.

I'd get an oil pressure gauge. If you have everything hooked up right you shouldn't have lost oil pressure...

If you have air trapped in the oil filter it can trigger the oil pressure light.

That might have been it. I started it this morning and the light came on for about 3 seconds. Drove it around and on the highway and everything seems normal! Now to see if my new pan will leak. First time I have done this job.
