    Selector rod headache, help needed PLEASE!

    Hey guys, I purchased a UUC 187 DSSR for my "new to me" e30 (1987 325e, build date 10-1986), thinking it would be an easy happy upgrade. Took out the OEM selector rod, compared the two, and the DSSR is too long by about 7mm. Just to be sure, I connected the OEM selector rod and the OEM selector rod joint, and placed it next to the DSSR connected to the new 89+ selector rod joint (required by UUC). The total length is also too long with the new parts, by roughly a 1/4".

    So my questions are;

    1) Is the UUC DSSR supposed to be longer for some reason?

    2) If it is wrong, and isn't going to work properly, can I make a modification to a new shift lever to compensate for UUC's complete failure? (I have a new unbent Z3M shift lever that I can throw in, and maybe just bend it farther back to make up for the difference in selector rod lengths. ??)

    Thank you in advance to anyone who can help. I promise I searched old threads for answers, I just gave up after over an hour spent searching and no answers.

    Send it back to UUC and have them ship you the correct part. If determined to make it work, cut a section out of the rod have it welded back together.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
