    Replace head, Find bad rocker.

I just finished replacing my bad (porous) head with good one. Or so I thought.
I was just finishing up the head & gasket swap, had everything back together and was adjusting the valves. Amidst my valve adjustment I notice one of my rockers is cracked! F*CK!
So now I have everything detached from the head (aside from the manifolds) and my question is:
Are the new bolts and new head gasket still usable? I did follow the 3-stage torque tightening in the Bentley. Do I need another set of new bolts now that I have to remove the head to replace the rockers?

Also, I just got the head resurfaced and cleaned by a machine shop. It wouldn't have affected the head from me tightening the bolts? The car hasn't ran yet.

Which of rocker is broken? If the cylinders closer to the firewall you might be able to sneak the shaft out far enough with the head still on. Or I've heard people getting the shaft out by removing the rad and jacking up the motor.

Really the bolts are a one time deal... Once there torqued and stretched you can't (or shouldn't rather) re use em. Same goes for the head gasket... I wouldn't re use it new or not. It's not worth the risk Imo.

Its on cylinder 4. So I dont have enough room in the bay for the rocker shafts.

Could maybe remove the rad and jack up the motor to sneak it out.

This is why you disassemble a head and check EVERYTHING.

You'll need a new gasket and bolts.

The bolts and the gasket are one time use items.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I was under the impression that the machine shop I took it to was going to do this since that is why I paid them to disassemble it, clean and deck it..

It's my own fault for not double checking.

They should have noticed it. Hopefully the rest of their work isn't as bad.

The head got replacement rockers and camshaft from my old head. They have 134k miles & they look and feel fantastic.
